Grad Bash Confirmed

Attention seniors: Grad Bash is happening! Earlier in the year, Universal Orlando announced that its popular graduation event of Grad Bash is returning to students this spring for schools across Florida for 2022. The event offers high school seniors a chance to enjoy a night of camaraderie with friends before turning their tassels to the future.

The event of Grad Bash is tailored to high school graduates, and as Universal says, it is a “once-in-a-lifetime, rite-of-passage event.” Seniors spend an exciting night with their friends doing all kinds of fun activities with exclusive access to both Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. They are able to enjoy thrilling rides, attractions, street entertainment, and more. The event was designed and created to give students a safe and supervised night to celebrate an important milestone in their lives.

Lake Mary Prep high school seniors are gearing up for graduation May 14 but are also setting their sights on Grad Bash. The confirmation was made that seniors will be attending on April 8 from 5:30 pm to 3:00 am. An email and Remind has been sent out asking the seniors if they are interested in attending, but be wary: once you click yes, you are locked in and can’t change your mind. The final deadline to make your decision will be February 15, so keep an eye on those emails and Reminds, senior Griffins.

Lead senior advisor, Gina Bortz, said there was a lot of planning that went into making this event possible.

“I started planning for this last April. I had to guesstimate enrollment for seniors to figure out numbers in order to schedule stuff like buses, make sure the date didn’t interfere with any AP testing, SAT testing, or religious holidays, and rally up enough administrative chaperones, which I desperately still need one more person,” said Bortz.

Senior Jackson LaMarre said he is extremely excited for the event.

He is “[looking forward to] making memories with classmates… [and] doing things I am not able to do with my parents, like rollercoasters such as The Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster.”

However, seniors Brianna Letterio and Noah Hill are upset about Grad Bash, not because of the event itself but because of the date on which it falls. Grad Bash is coinciding with the baseball tournament, which they are a part of. Letterio and Hill say they are very upset and want the tournament to be canceled.

“It’s an unforgettable, unique opportunity and our last time to get together making core memories,” said Letterio.

Hill said, “We never have an in-season tournament.”

This opportunity creates a wonderful bonding experience as well as a chance for the graduating class of 2022 to make lasting memories that will stay with them long after high school ends.
