Last week, the Junior Thespians presented 14 entries in the Junior Thespians Regional/District Competition. Junior Thespians currently has twenty members, all in grades 6-8. All of the members participated in the One-Act, Chicken Bones for the Teenage Soup which won a Superior, the highest rank awarded!

Senior Belle Daoust, the president of the Senior Thespians troupe said, “It is such an honor for us as such a small troupe to be able to go to something as big as States.” There were 13 individual events submitted all of which were either awarded Superiors or Excellents.

Blake Curtis, an 8th grader in the drama program said, “I think this is a big step for our drama program, and it is very different to what I experienced these past years with the mix-up of teachers but I think Mrs. Corrie has really turned it around.”

To celebrate their big win, Mrs. Corrie and Mrs. Petrousky surprised the troupe with a sweet treat after school during their meeting. The members of the troupe watched their district entries and their competition’s entries at University Hall on November 5th and 6th. The Senior Thespians are watching their districts on November 12th and 13th. They were awarded 10 Superiors, 3 Excellents, and 3 Very Goods. Their One-Act, Tuna Fish Eulogy, was one of the Superiors received. This means the entire troupe has qualified for the state-level competition!

Minh Lam, a senior in Thespians and the lead in the One-Act said, “I think our One-Act progress has been really good and I’m actually really impressed by the way it turned out when we sent it to Districts.”

The Juniors and Seniors will take a total of 26 events to the State competition! Congratulations to their entire troupe and best of luck at states!
